168 = The Grotto of Gethsemane
The Grotto of Gethsemane
The Grotto is where it's believed Judas betrayed Jesus
and where Jesus was arrested. It is of irregular shape it is 17 m long
9 m wide and at its maximum 3.40 m high. It is the only monument that has
preserved the original form which it bore in the time of Jesus Christ.
Betwen the year 1956-59 the Grotto was restored.
The entrance was widened and entirely rebuilt. In the
Grotto three new alters were erected and above each one a fresco.
The central alterin the picture is surmounted by Jesus
praying among His disciples.
169 = The Basilica of Gethsemane - Interior
The mosaic shows Christ in agony consoled by the angel.In front of the alter, the rock on which Christ prayed 'Father if thou art willing remove this cup from me. Nevertheless not my will but thine be done.
170 = The Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu
This church was built by the Assumptionist Fathers in
the year 1931, over the traditional site of the house of the Higy Priest
Caiphas.After Jesus was arrested in Gethsemane, he was brought here for
his first trial,and in this house peter wept at the crowing of the cock.

171 = These steps in the hillside are believed to date from the time of Christ. They lie on the left side of the Russian Church of Mary Magdalene at the Russian Monastery premises on Mount of Olives. It is possible that the feet fo Jesus trod on these very stones.
172.173 = The Chapel of the Flagellation (located inside the Old City Jerusalem near 150 m away and to the right of the Lion's Gate.
The Chapel of Flagellation
The chapel stands on the site where according to tradition
christ was scourged by Roman Soldiers. It is located to the right of the
first Station of the Cross (see map
page and the following tour pages, the fourteen Stations of the Cross
along the Via Dolorosa are marked by rome numbers I to XIV).
Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and scourged him, and the soldiers platted a crown of thorns and put it in his head,and they put on him a purple robe. John 19:1-2
